Not soon after setting up that office on the Isle of Palms, Ryan and his wife Sonya, were blessed with triplet boys. Now a small business owner and father, Ryan became more interested in the local politics that had a impact on his business and family. He decided to run for an open seat on the Isle of Palms City Council, and overwhelmingly won the position. Since then, the voters of the Island have reelected Ryan to his council position two more times. He is currently serving his 10th year on council.
During his time on council he oversaw and worked on the completion of an addition
to the City's Recreation Department Building, a new Fire Station #2, the City's new Public Safety Building, as well as the City Marina's Bulk Head replacement and Beach Re-nourishment program. He has served on the City's Ways and Means Committee, Personnel Committee and has been Chair of the City's Recreation Committee, and Public
Safety Committee.
Eventually Ryan opened up a second chiropractic office, Atlantic Spine Clinic, and expanded his tile business to open up a retail showroom, both of which are located in Mount Pleasant.
Both Ryan and his wife are actively involved in their children's education at Sullivans Island Elementary school. While Sonya served as vice-president then president of the schools PTA. Ryan served as an adviser to the schools Improvement Committee.
Ryan and his wife of 16 years, live with their now 10 year old triplet boys, Ashton, Beck & Collin, along the coast of Charleston on the Isle of Palms. They enjoy the beaches, surfing, fishing and crabbing. Often you can find the whole family enjoying breakfast at the Acme Cantina or lunch at the Windjammer.
Ryan is a proud member of the Republican Party of South Carolina, the Campaign For Liberty, and the National Rifle Association. He and his family are members of All Saints Lutheran church in Mount Pleasant.
